Language configuration

Language configuration decides which languages your workspace operates in, and which of those each brand supports. It affects the chatbot, the knowledge base, automated emails, templates and the IVR — anywhere Pleased speaks to a customer on your behalf.

How it is structured

There are two levels:

Workspace — The languages available across the workspace.

Brand — Which of those languages a given brand supports, and which is its default.

A brand can only use languages enabled at workspace level.

Configure workspace languages

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Open Language Configuration.
  3. Select the languages your workspace should support.
  4. Save.
  5. The number of languages you can enable depends on your plan. If a language you need is unavailable, your plan limit has been reached.

Configure a brand's languages

  1. In Language Configuration, select the brand.
  2. Choose its supported languages from those enabled at workspace level.
  3. Set the brand's default language — used when a customer's language is unknown or unsupported.
  4. Save.

What language configuration affects

  • Chatbot — Bot messages and greetings are written per language.
  • Knowledge base — Articles carry a version per language; the portal serves the reader's language.
  • Automated emails — Ticket triggers and automations send in the language attached to the email configuration.
  • Templates — Written per language so agents insert the right one.
  • IVR — Voice prompts are recorded or configured per language.

Removing a language

Removing a language from a brand hides content in that language from customers. Existing translated content is not deleted, but it stops being served — so check what you would be hiding before removing anything from a live brand.

Good practice

  • Enable a language only when you can actually support it. A half-translated help centre reads worse than one clearly in a second language.
  • Set the default deliberately — it is the fallback every unrecognised visitor gets.
  • Translate the high-traffic content first. Your top ten articles cover most of the demand.
  • Keep translations in step. When you update the source article, update its translations; the chatbot answers from whatever is published.
